Economy Rice or Mixed
Rice as some more education people of Malaysia may call it, is not a
specific dish by itself, but rather a type of food. A Malaysian hawker
selling Economy Rice spreads out at least 10 different meat and vegetable
dishes cooked in bulk. Armed with a plate of white rice, you may scoop any one
or more dishes of a portion to your liking.
The Malaysian Economy
Rice is easily the most eaten dish in Malaysia,
with the growing number of middle class workers in Malaysia. Common dishes include,
stew chicken with mushrooms, sweet and sour pork, fried eggs and stir fried
assorted vegetable.The pre-cook dishes will get cold over time and may not be
pleasant. The more affluent and the rich will prefer their meals to be cooked
to order served hot in a air-conditioned indoor restaurant. In 2012, the price
of a plate with meat and vegetable is around RM 5.
